The Biggest Loser for Buildings

The New York Times’ Green Inc. blog (now just Green) has the scoop on a wonderful competition sponsored by the U.S. EPA and DOE called the National Building Competition. The idea: ask building owners/operators to compete nationally on their energy efficiency improvements and award the building that has trimmed the most fat. Given how obese our country is and the non-trivial relationship between our over-consumption of  fossil energy and our over-consumption of caloric energy, I think weight loss is a great analogy to be using. They even managed to score Bob Harper for the promotional video! Nicely done, EnergyStar.
