In early May 2010, a group of CU graduate students led by Prof. Paul Komor had the unique opportunity of touring several energy-related facilities in northeastern Colorado as part of a three-day intensive field course. The tour stands out as one of the most unique educational experiences in my life partly for the sheer access we were given to operations most of the public never gets to see, but also because we effectively witnessed, in three days, the complete spectrum of supply-side energy. Old to new. Dirty to clean. Declining to booming. We also met many of the people behind the operations and were able to roughly gauge their pulse on pending climate legislation and the perceived environmental impacts of their technologies.
The posts below, many complete with pictures, are my first few impressions on the various businesses we visited.
